Miramonte offer three drama elective classes. All students who participate in the drama program are eligible to audition for the Spring Musical.

 

Course Descriptions

DRAMA 1

Drama 1 explores the fundamentals of acting, improvisation, playwriting, stagecraft, and theatre history. There will particular emphasis on storytelling, character development, and skills to improve confidence, relaxation, spontaneity, and imagination on stage. Performances of work will take place in front of class members, invited audiences, and local elementary schools.

 

DRAMA 2

Drama 2 is designed for the experienced drama student. Its aim is to further develop skills and awareness in acting, improvisation, directing, playwriting, technical theatre/stagecraft, and theatre history. There will be particular emphasis on ensemble work and performance. Performances of work will be both in class and open to the public.

 

ADVANCED DRAMA

This course is for the experienced drama student with instructor approval only. Its aim is to further develop skills and awareness in acting, directing, playwriting, technical theatre, and theatre history placing particular emphasis on production. Students in the Advanced Drama Class are also members of the MHS resident theatre company, The Miramonte Players, which was established in 1999.  Part of the role of the Miramonte Players is to produce the school plays. All Miramonte Players will be participating in the fall play, either by acting or by working behind the scenes.
